Maple Valley Farm LLC 's Story

Maple Valley Farm is a 47 acre farm located just outside of Shepherdstown, WV.  It came into being because of a wonderful man named Ralph Thomas. He owned and operated Longfield Farm in Uvilla, WV. In his many years  in business he hired important people - his manager Jacob (Bink) Binkley who work for him for 16 years and Anna M. Binkley who helped him foal for 13 years and B.Neal Marshall (5 years) a wonderful horseman who comes from a long line of excellent horsemen.

These people formed a wonderful working relationship, but as the story goes Ralph retired at age 80 and sold his farm.

There is a but in all of this ---- Even from Nevada Ralph still dabbled in the horse industry. One day calling Anna and Bink asking them to foal some of his mares...Well some horses turned into more once the word got out that we were back in the foaling business.  Bink who works at Charles Town Races and owns his own business Majestic View Farm ( a hay and grain farm) did not have time. Ralph called and said go get Neal. Anna and Neal became partners ....Maple Valley Farm LLC had it's beginning...

Jacqueline Binkley took on the duties as our foal manager. Jacqueline has been around the mares and the foaling business all her life. As soon as she could push Ralph's chair up to the window of the stall and watch - she did. She has been a great asset over the years helping us with the mares and the foaling. Jacqueline owns a real estate and wedding photography business. She got married at The Barns at Maple Valley Farm LLC in the fall of 2016. She will also be helping us market our new businesses.

In 2009 we were informed that a stallion named Mikimoto's Mojo was available. I sent all of his papers to Ralph in Nevada. He called a couple of days later to strongly suggest we purchase Miki. As an incentive Ralph and his partner Terri would breed their mare Front of Class to Mikimoto's Mojo.

Ralph knowledge of the horse industry, his guiding hand and his drive to keep us educated and up to date with new information about pedigrees, mares and foals was invaluable...

Mojo's Pristina owned by Maple Valley Farm LLC is Mikimoto's Mojo's first winner. Cuppa Mocha Mojo owned by Terri Catlett is Mikimoto's Mojo's first stakes winner. Mojo's Golden Hawk owned by Maple Valley Farm LLC is Mikimoto's Mojo's first turf winner. He won the Longines International Gentlemen's Race.

September 25,2013 Mojo's Pristina broke her maiden after her second start in a maiden special weight race as a two year old. As a three year old raced on the turf for the first time at Laurel Park and placed.

Our story takes another turn...On Jan. 21, 2014 at the age of 90 Ralph Thomas passed away before he could watch the filly Cuppa Mocha Mojo run.

October 8, 2014 the filly named Cuppa Mocha made her debut breaking her maiden by 12 lengths. By the time she was entered in the 18th running of the WV Cavada Breeders Classics she had won 5 out of 7 races... As Cuppa Mocha Mojo crossed the finish line first the night of October 10, 2015, again we were reminded of the man who brought us all together.

In January of 2016 I bought my first Golden Retriever and named her Princess Pipa Adele. She became my foundation for my new business Goldens of Maple Valley Farm.

May 17, 2016 Bink and I foaled our last foal and we begin a new journey...We will continue to breed mares to Mikimoto's Mojo but we will only foal our own mares. As we walk this our new journey we are very thankful to all of our clients who took a chance and bred to Mikimoto's Mojo. We are also thankful to the many people who play a part in the developement of these beautiful race horses...

Jacqueline owns a real estate and wedding photography business. She got married at The Barns at Maple Valley Farm LLC in the fall of 2016. She will also be helping us market our new businesses.

We foal our last mare April 3, 2018...

We still have 2 boys in training and racing but most of our horses (11) now surround the Wedding Venue

Jan 2020 Bink and I became partners for the last horses racing  Showtime Cat, and Mystic O'Shaunesie, Mojo's Louie Cat and Irish McDougal we named our new venture together Celtic Gold Racing..

Jan 1,2020 Princess Pipa Adele had her first litter and from that litter I kept a female and named her Princess Alexia Grace.. From Pipa's second litter I kept a female and named her Princess Jasmine Arabella.. Pipa had her final litter August 2022, She will now enjoy her role as a Grandmother !!!

October 22,2022 we were honored to be one of 8 horses accepted in the Maryland Million Turf Sprint with Showtime Cat... He had 30-1 odds , the smallest horse in the field 965 pounds, he was shoved to the back of the pack at the start of the race and had a jockey who had never rode him Angel Cruz.. Showtime became our first Black Type Stakes Placed Horse.. We are so grateful to our team Mike Jones - trainer, Angel Cruz - Jockey, Doodles- groom - all the team from the Jones barn and Dr Alex... It will be a day to always remember!!!

Princess Alexia Grace is due Feb 2023 with her first litter of Golden Doodles!!!

Stay tuned for our next adventure !!!
